Another day in Lille

 A few days ago I went to Lille ( in the north of France ) with my mom. From these photos it might look like it was all about food and sightseeing or maybe even foodsightseeing, but actually it was all about shopping. I love walking around in Printemps and  Galeries Lafayette. The stores themselves aren't as impressive as in Paris, but they do have great french brands like Maje, Sandro, Zadig + Voltaire,... always very inspiring.

Accesories within view

A few days ago I posted about one of my childhood dreams :  having a dressing room

Cafe Prestige

I spent the first day of my holidays with my dad in Brugge ( Bruges). We had cake & coffee at Patisserie Prestige ( Vlaanderenstraat 12-14), delicious. The cafe is decorated in an old-fashioned, romantic way, I liked it a lot.

Barbie lips

I was experimenting with my new camera today and decided to take some pictures of my lipsticks.The light is not how it should be yet, but ofcourse I still need some more practice. It seems I have a weakness for all shades of pink.

Dreaming of a dressing room...

I know this isn't a very original post, I think I can find a "closet inspiration post' on minimum one of the blogs I follow everyday. But personally, I can't get enough of it. Dreamed of having a big walk-in closet since I was a little girl. There was a certain point in my life where I did have a seperate room to store my clothes, but then we moved and I had to do with a normal closet again. Nothing wrong with that ofcourse, but I love looking at my clothes, having them organized,..At the moment I'm already happy if I can open my closet without anything falling out, so having a nice overview is out of the question. I 'll probably have to wait many more years before I  get the wardrobe I dream of ( if I ever do )  but in the mean time I'll have to do with these beautiful photos

AND now that my exams are over ( so happy..holidays ! ) maybe a reorganization of my own closet.

Two friends, Sarah- Jane Clark and Heidi Middleton, started their label in 1999 with a famous jeans. Not more than 2 years later their full ready to wear  collection was presented on the runway in NY and London. Now, 2012 " " Sass & Bide" is a loved brand by many women.  I only got to know the label quite recently ( thanks to blogging and websites like polyvore)  but after seeing the Spring/ Summer 2012 runway show I thought this brand deserved some attention on my blog. The clothes are fun, young, easy to wear and I love the bright, almost neon colors. (It's not very nice to say this , but I hope Zara will get inspired by them very soon.)

Spring : Pastel colors

Last year Zara was selling lots of V-neck sweaters in all sorts of pastel colors on sale. When I was waiting in line at the register I heard the girls behind me saying " ewww puke color" , " eww such boring baby colors". Now it seems that the disliked "leftovers" from last year, will be the new collection from this year. Pastel was very popular on the runway :

New - in : booties

After my exams yesterday I decided to take a break from studying and went shopping for a few hours. My aim was to score some flats or boots on sale. The boots I saw on sale a few weeks earlier, unfortunately sold out in my size, turned out to be part of the new collection. When I saw them for 50 euros I liked them, but for 90 euros I realized they weren't really what I was looking for ( little mistake at Zara ? usually prices are the same all over Belgium ). Then I spotted these green/beige suede booties and forgot about the buying sales plan. Better to have one pair of boots from the new, spring collection than 3 t-shirts from the winter collection. Well, atleast this time. And I couldn't resist buying a scarf ( that was on sale, so I didn't ignore my plan completely) to match them. 

Barbie world ?

 

    

Why does this Louis Vuitton spring 2012 campaign make me think of Barbie so much ? Could it be the perfection of the models ? The candy colors ? Or maybe the slightly exaggerated facial expressions ? 

Probably a mix of all the above. But during these dark  examdays, a pink world looks pretty good.

Today I'm wearing... my new black blazer

All my nice jeans were in the laundry, so I had to wear my new black blazer with black pants. A bit too business-like for my taste so I tried to compensate for it by wearing a pink shirt and a yellow bag. If you ask me a pair of colourful heels or flats were needed aswell, but unfortunately I don't own any. Are you someone who needs a lot of color aswell ? 

Dress up your technology...

Having a decent handbag and wearing a stylish dress doesn't seem to be enough anymore, if you want to be really trendy your technology needs to be dressed up aswell...  A cover for your phone, a sleeve for your Ipad, a case for your laptop,... And for those of you who are more interested in the practical aspect, it keeps your toys from being scratched. I'm one of those people who still walks around with a very normal cellphone and a big laptop, so for me these items here are just pretty to look at, but sometimes that is enough. That also explains why I picked out all pink-ish items....in real life I might go for a case that is a bit more neutral.

Style inspiration: Miranda again

About 2 months ago I made a first " style inspiration" post : Miranda Kerr as "superwoman". But in the mean time I found  more photos of her, wearing casual outfits I really like. 
I also think it is nice to see that she wears the same items several times ( the bag, the green pants, the black booties), makes her style very real somehow.

I wouldn't mind wearing an entire Proenza Schouler look : chic in black or edgy in neon yellow. I created these 2 outfits on Polyvore, but there were so many other items I was crazy about : girly skirts, sophisticated jackets,... I see it as a brand that suits all kind of styles and people and sells expensive but very wearable items. The only thing I'm curious about...why is it called Proenza Schouler ? Can anyone tell me ? And how do you like it ?

Today I'm wearing... a pink t-shirt

My photos seem to be getting more blurry everyday, you almost can't see my hair anymore. I won't even bother making up excuses for it, hehe. After exams getting better quality photos is blog priority number one, but now studying is more important ( and unfortunately so much more boring). Here another one of my casual outfits. I was wearing my favorite Zara pants with a Ralp Lauren t-shirt, a River Island jacket and a Missoni scarf.

Loving the Boxer bag !

It's time to show you my handbag crush of the month : The Reed Krakoff Boxer tote. Such an original bag and a perfect size to store all your stuff for uni or work during the day. Great color combinations aswell ! Although I have to say I liked the plain black or white ones a lot aswell. And when I would ever pay almost 800 euro for a bag, I'd probably prefer one that has a classic, easy to match color. What do you think of these ?

Today I'm wearing ...new pants

Another blurry quick outfit shot. Just wanted to show you my new electric blue waxed jeans. I already liked these pants when I first saw them at Mango in Lisboa this summer, but I couldn't buy them then because my suitcase was full. Shortly after that trip I fell in love with my burgundy jeans and forgot about these, but when I found them on sale here in Belgium a few days ago I just couldn't resist. It almosts sounds like a lovestory, haha. Do you like them or do you prefer normal blue jeans ?

The actresses of the film "Black Swan" seem to be popular at Dior. Natalie Portman is already the face of the Miss Dior Chérie perfume and now Dior has announced that Mila Kunis will be starring in their Miss Dior handbag campaign for Spring/Summer 2012. 

Spring : More is more..full prints

Only wear one item with a print is an unwritten rule I almost always stick to. Eventhough everytime I see Liz of  the blog "Late afternoon" in one of her mixed prints outfits I think to myself " I should try that". On the " spring 2012 " runways an even more extreme version seemed to be popular : one print all over. Here some examples of how to wear prints.. be warned...this is only for the brave.

Today I'm wearing...a yellow sweater

This is what I wore for some quick sale shopping with my mom yesterday morning, the photo is very blurry ( looks like its from an old newspaper somehow) but its all I have. You might have noticed on my NYE photos already ( see HERE )but I got a  haircut. I was a little nervous at the hairdressers but now that it's 10 cm shorter, its so much easier to style. I'll show you my sale purchases in some of my future outfit posts. I haven't been able to go to a lot of stores yet, but what I did buy already buy is a pair of Mango jeans, a formal black blazer, and 2 shirts at Massimo Dutti. Have you scored anything good already ? 

Spring : Goodbye to skinny jeans

The most boring part of my wardrobe is definately my collection of jeans, they are basically all dark and very skinny. Spring 2012 will be the perfect moment to do something about that because there seem to be all sorts of pants on the runway, but nothing ressembling my good old skinny jeans.

Spring : Burgundy is here to stay

Voilà, the first post of my spring trend report... ( for more info check out my previous post) Hopefully it can help you decide a what to buy on sale, thinking ahead for next season.

Burgundy was one of my favorite colors this season : classy and easy to match, almost the new black. The good news is that burgundy is staying another season, although it's definately not as dominant as in the F/W 2011 collections. Here some examples of burgundy spring looks :

The sale is coming !

Tomorrow the sale here in Belgium starts and I was trying to make a little list of must-buy  items, which is quite difficult when there is so much you want but not a lot you actually need. So I thought that having a look at the spring collections could help me decide which items that  I can buy now on sale will be keepers for when the days are longer and warmer again and which items I should put on my must-have list for when the new collections are in store. All this thinking ahead is part of my new years resolution to spend my shopping money more wisely and invest in things I'll want to wear over and over. I'm sure you know the guilty feeling when looking at something hanging in your closet you only wore once and regret buying it. Although I should add ( you never know my parents are reading this) that the past years the pile of "mistakes" has gotten smaller and smaller.
